Want to download, box pops up showing download started but I havent opened it up and it is not downl

I want to download various files but when I hit download, the box pops up opened already and I havent opened it up and more to the point it is not downloading, then I get message saying cant download...help please

have u used other browsers, like firefox/opera. May be Internet explorer has corrupted. try firefox, to see whether u can download. may be the website has problems.
