when i use the code %26lt; a href = "---.mp3"%26gt;Download%26lt; / a%26gt; it opens and plays the song/sound in the same window, again i want to learn how to have it show like downloading a zip

I was downloading a powerpoint %26amp; unchecked the "always ask to download" but I decided I hate that!

Now it will only open up in my internet explorer, and it won't even save it onto my computer.

It's for school %26amp; I really need them downloaded onto my computer.

Please someone help me get the prompt back!

I thought if I downloaded a huge powerpoint file, the prompt would come back and I could uncheck it, but it doesn't work like that- it just takes awhile to download into my internet explorer.. there is absolutely no box. =(

and click Apply.

if your using xp (and have admin privilages) you can try doing a 'system restore'

Changing Firefox Download Manager?

I have always used IE7 and used BitComet to download any files. I could just right click on a download link and then choose "Download With BitComet".

I got really annoyed with IE7 for various reasons and switched to FireFox which is perfect, just one problem. I can no longer download files with BitComet, they just download with Firefox Download Manager which I don't like. When i rigght click on the link the "Download WIth BitComet" option is no longer there.

How can I download them with BitComet again?

This FireFox add on will give you the option of opening the page you want in either an IE tab in FireFox browser - or to open the same page in IE browser all with one click which should then enable your right click "Download with BitComet" again..

don't think you can ie and firefox are different ie use active x witch may make bitcomet appear witch firefox dose not use active x witch makes it safer.
Try installing the add on below. Bitcomet is OK for smaller files but Firefox is better for larger ones :)

Short answer, you can't.

The download speed depends on two things:

1. The number of "seeds" with the particular torrent. A seed is a host computer which has made the torrent available for upload.

2. The number of "leechers". A leecher is anyone downloading the unfinished torrent.

If there are 50 seeds and no leechers, your download speed will be very fast. Unfortunately, this never happens. A decent download speed is around 50k/second.

It depends upon the amount of seeders and their upload speeds. There is no exact way to speed up a torrent, it is dependant on the seeders. Just be patient.

Make sure that you open up the ports on the computer/router. If you are using a modem or router than you have to open up the ports to allow users to connect through otherwise the d/l speeds will become very slow. Type in the address of the router and find in the options open all ports. Then type in you ip address (should be 192.168.1.x)

If that does not help try downloading a differnet torrent.
depends on the uploader.. and you if you have dial up.. it doesnt matter if you have a pentium 1 with a 128 mb of ram.. if you have comcast and its going that slow then u have a problem.. but now u really cant do anything.. just get a better internet provider..

It mainly depends on the health of the file.

The health of the file is determined by the ratio of Seeders to Leechers.

Let's say you download a file from torrent and leave your computer seeding that file, the health would go up because one less person would be downloading it (you), and you would continue uploading it.

It's all a matter of finding the right sites to find torrent files and finding healthy links.

How to download my programs on a Mac?

I just got a Mac. Last time I used a Mac was about two years ago. I got to understand them pretty well, but it was at my job, so I wasn't downloading programs and setting up the machine.

I'm trying to download my programs. I was able to download Mozilla Camino, but attempts to download Firefox, Thunderbird and Adobe Reader haven't worked.

For Firefox and Thunderbird, I downloaded them and was using them. I set up my e-mail on Thunderbird (or tried to set up--but I'm still learning how Thunderbird works) and browsed the Internet on Firefox. Then I restarted my computer and the programs were gone. Both Firefox and Thunderbird should work on Mac.

For Adobe Reader, I think I at first tried to download the Windows version. Then I realized it and tried the Mac version. It went through the motions of downloading and opening. The icon is now on my dock, but it does nothing when I open it. When I open a PDF file, it has the Adobe logo when first downloading but doesn't display in Adobe.

Also look on the desktop for a folder with a .dmg image. Open that and drag the program icon to the Applications folder. Often there's a little graphic showing you what to do.

I have Firefox on this machine, but on a regular basis, I use Omniweb. It's only about $15 from the Ominiweb folks. I believe it uses the same rendering engine as Safari, which means any website that Safari doesn't like, Omniweb won't either, but for eveyday use it's OK. Mainly I use it because it's really fast.

If you just want to experiment with browsers, there are also Opera, Camino and Seamonkey. You can get Netscape also, but all support for that is ending soon.

When you download a program like Firefox, you download the file with a .dmg extension. This is just a disk image. You can run the program while it's attached to your computer (in Finder, it will be below the Macintosh HD icon with an "eject" symbol next to it) but in order to properly install the program so that it runs after a restart, you need to copy it from the attached disk image to your Applications folder.

How to download swf files from the net by orbitdownloader.?

I have orbitdownloader to download swf and flv files from the net, and swf and flv player (the free one ) by eltima software. I like the videos on expertvillage.com but I cannot download any files from it.

I mean everytime I download by orbit downloader it tells me the same thing about some swf files called medialoader, adplayer and expertvillage.skinbase.... Surely, I know it's impossible for all the videos have the same files to download, but I just try to download these to see what happens.

After I download them, I cannot open any of them on the player I mention above. Anybody knows what I can do?
