I'm trying to download videos from the web but every time I click on the link and use an external download manager, it downloads "index.php" and not the video (though it works fine with the Firefox download manager, but that's not optimal since I want to have others in a queue). What can I do?

hey guys I was downloading Lineage with the mozilla firefox downloading thig( where all your downloads are)
well the thing is that my computer freezed and affter that when it came to its normal state all the things y was doing closed, invluding the download.
I was thinking if there is a way I could recover that because It was like in 60% and its a very slow donwload.

You cannot recover a botched download.
The reason is that the download has a built-in checking system to see if it is intact.
The checking system works on a handshaking method of sending a "code" during the downloading to see if all bits "add up" to what has been sent.
The method is called "handshaking" and the code check is called "checksum".
If during the download the "checksum" doesn't jive, the "handshake" attempts to "fix" the download.
BUT that is not your problem, you should have asked, Why did my computer freezed (freeze, froze), or lock up?
1. Maybe you ran out of space on the hard drive.
2. You probably ran out of RAM (Random Access Memory), and as a result the comp. freezed ;-)
If you intend to do more downloading (especially big files), you should consider upgrading to prevent this kind of hassle.
A bigger HDD and/or RAM.

Just watch out for KB (Kilobyte files or 1 or below MegaByte files), as they contain porn that people like to upload and spyware to infect others that are novice users, unless its a .midi file, and if you find only 3 or lower results, and none of them are above 4 MB, than don't download them, also if you can't right click and browse the host, than delete them. And downloading music illegaly is often with Limewire, so that's why theres alot of porn, spyware, trojans to fool novice users.
Luckily, I have real-time scanners before it gets downloaded, and I know which files are fake and real.
Apparently, you can also review/hear/pre play before you download, so if you download music and hear nothing, chances are it is porn, so stop your download, and voila it is gone.
But you should legitly buy the music piece, theres lots of debates of why music should/shouldn't be free, anyways, just my experience.

You were so offended, you had to look at it 3 or 4 times, right? You're trying to steal music and you're offended that you found obscene images? I'm thinking the problems not with Limewire.
easiest way to avoid this? BUY THE MUSIC! go to your local record shop and buy it. if its stuff not that well heard of then look on itunes shop, they have some weird and wonderful stuff on there. look for sites where you can LEGALY download the stuff from. if the bands have made the music and got it recorded it will be for sale and safe download somewhere, else nobody would have it, you just have to look around the whole internet. thats where the amazing, magical, ever popular..............SEARCH ENGINES come into play. google, yahoo, ask, dogpile, there are countless numbers of em. use em. once you find a site to download the music from they will have a database of music to buy, so you can use just one site, or maybe 2 or 3.
and also yes, i aggree with you about the filth that can be downloaded. its the good old saying, '90% of internet sites are crap or porn.' and unfortunately this is true.

run virus checker and spy ware as well. Tons of junk. The problem is people think it is "free" - NO. You are first infringing copyright law and second it is a medium for all kinds of virus's,spyware,..etc. Companies I read are even
putting stuff there to track who is downloading and then prosecuting the people.
My advise - avoid any so called "free" sites. All loaded with crapolo.
Just cos you object to something doesn't make it illegal. If it's pornography thats legal for over 18's in a lot of countries then the authorities are a lot more likely to be worried about bigger problems like child pornography. Any media download application can be used to download 'filth' it's not an exclusive problem with limewire.
I use bit comet, and when i download a movie , it starts downloading just fine, but since it takes so long to download i usually just leave the computer and go do whatever but when im gone a while, and i come back to check up on it has stopped. Is there anything i can do to prevent it from stopping.... and also is there any way that i can make my downloads faster... (I know all about the seeds and leechers) but i hate waiting so long just for a download.............. THanks

How long do you leave your computer? It may be because your computer hibernates or goes in a stand-by. Try to adjust your power saving settings.
Unfortunately, you can't accelerate the rate of download, all you can do is to choose the file with the more seeders and better health :)
I recently bought a motokrzr k1m and have downloaded the jumpmusic program but for some reason nothing will download onto my phone. some music says wma? and some says mp3 which i realize it would only download but even that won't go on my phone? are there other programs out there that i can get and download music from? ya, i payed for a subscription to emusic...waste of time...and rhapsody which i found out i need one of "their" mp3 players to put the music on. so are there other sites also that will allow me to download and put music on my motokrzr?

I used to be able to download music from myspace perfectly fine but ever since i downloaded itunes and quicktime it wont work. Everytime i click "download" it opens a new page with a quicktime player and just plays the song instead letting me download the song. Is it the quicktime player that has messed it up? How do i fix this??????????
